About this bot

One canvas. Every server.

There is exactly one canvas. Not one per server — one for all of them. What
your server builds there sits next to what hundreds of others are building at
the same time, and any pixel you place can be painted over a moment later.

Every five minutes you may place one pixel. That is the whole allowance, and
the cooldown belongs to your Discord account rather than to a server, so hopping
somewhere else does not buy you a second one. That single rule is the game: on
your own you manage about 1,150 pixels in ninety-six hours. Anything worth
looking at takes agreement.

How an edition runs

An edition lasts ninety-six hours and grows twice along the way.

When What happens
Hour 0 1000 × 1000 pixels, 16 colours
Hour 27 The canvas doubles to 2000 × 1000, 8 new colours unlock
Hour 54 It doubles again to 2000 × 2000, 8 more colours
Hour 90 Whiteout — the palette shrinks and everything starts to fade
Hour 96 The canvas freezes. Whatever stands, stands.

Each expansion opens empty ground that is fought over immediately. And since
nobody knows what their neighbours are planning, the canvas never ends up
looking the way anyone intended.

Your server holds territory

Every pixel remembers which server placed it. That produces a second map
alongside the picture: the territory map, where each server has its own
colour.

  • Territory is what your server holds right now — the pixels whose last
    write was yours.
  • Placed is everything you ever put down.

The gap between those two numbers is the entire story of a contested area.
/territory shows where you stand, /leaderboard shows everyone else.

Building together

  • /template — lays a design over the canvas. Everyone on the server sees
the same one, and sees which pixels are still missing.
  • /rally — calls the server to a position. Defend it or build it.
  • /timelapse — renders any period as a video. This is where you find out
    what happened overnight.

/mod Canvas moderation

Moderation

A shared canvas needs tools, and they have to be the kind that do not punish
bystanders:

  • Rollback restores the state from before the first interference — and
skips any pixel somebody uninvolved now holds. Cleaning up never erases
someone else's work along the way.
  • Protected areas freeze a region while it is under attack, or because the
    community agreed to keep it.
  • Reports are grouped by area and ordered by how many different people
objected, not by how often one person did.
  • Every action is written to an audit log before it is reported as done.

Automatically detected patterns never lead to a ban on their own — at most to a
moderator taking a look.

Getting started

  1. Invite the bot.
  2. Run /place in any channel.
  3. That is it. There is nothing to configure.

Optionally, set a shared design with /template so everyone works on the same
picture.
