📺 UniversalStreams — Stream Notifications for Discord

UniversalStreams is a dedicated Discord bot built to keep communities informed whenever their favorite creators go live.

Configure stream notifications directly inside Discord using simple slash commands, choose where alerts should be posted, mention up to two roles, customize your messages, and decide what should happen to notifications after a stream ends.

UniversalStreams currently supports Twitch and Kick, with YouTube support planned for a future update.

🔴 Automatic Stream Notifications

UniversalStreams automatically monitors configured creators and posts notifications when they go live.

Currently supported platforms:

• Twitch — Fully supported
• Kick — Fully supported
• YouTube — Planned

Notifications can include:

• Stream title
• Category
• Viewer count
• Preview or thumbnail image
• Direct stream link
• Custom notification text
• Optional role mentions

Notifications posted in Discord Announcement channels can also be automatically published.

🔔 Flexible Role Notifications

Each configured stream can optionally mention up to two Discord roles.

For example:

@Streams + @Live Notifications

Both roles are optional and can be changed or removed independently.

💬 Custom Live & Offline Messages

Customize the text UniversalStreams sends for each creator.

Available placeholders include:

• {streamer} — Creator display name
• {login} — Creator username
• {title} — Current stream title
• {category} — Current stream category
• {url} — Stream or VOD link

Multi-line messages are supported using \n.

Example:

🔴 {streamer} is live!\n🎮 {category}\n📺 {title}\n{url}

Which becomes:

🔴 Mirntos is live!
🎮 Just Chatting
📺 Stream Title

🧹 Flexible Stream Cleanup

Choose what UniversalStreams should do with the live notification after a stream ends.

• true — Delete the original live notification
• vod — Edit the original notification into an ended-stream/VOD notification
• false — Leave the original live notification unchanged

For Twitch, vod attempts to find and link the creator's newest Twitch VOD.

For Kick, vod updates the notification and links back to the creator's Kick channel.

UniversalStreams automatically resolves the creator and stores the correct account information.

🛡️ Anti-Flapping Protection

Temporary platform disconnects or short API interruptions are confirmed before UniversalStreams treats a creator as offline.

This helps prevent incorrect offline notifications and unnecessary cleanup actions caused by brief connection issues.

UniversalStreams uses one unified stream-management system across supported platforms.

📊 Server Tiers

UniversalStreams supports different server tiers with platform-specific stream limits.

Free

• Up to 100 Twitch streams
• Up to 25 Kick streams

Premium

• Up to 500 Twitch streams
• Up to 50 Kick streams

Unlimited

• Unlimited Twitch streams
• Unlimited Kick streams

Twitch and Kick limits are counted independently.

Server administrators can use /stream tier to view their server's current tier, usage, and limits.

🛡️ Configuration Protection

If UniversalStreams is removed from a Discord server, that server's saved stream configurations are not immediately deleted.

They are kept for 3 days.

If UniversalStreams is added back during that period, the pending deletion is automatically cancelled and the existing configurations remain available.

💓 Improved Reliability

UniversalStreams includes built-in reliability and service-health monitoring to help detect connection problems, degraded performance, and service outages more accurately.

Temporary connection issues are handled carefully to help prevent false offline notifications and unnecessary cleanup actions.
